Acheron River 

At an altitude of 1,600 meters and just two kilometers from the village of Glyki, lies the Acheron River. A breathtaking natural landscape that offers visitors tranquility and unique scenery. The river is a protected ecosystem under the Natura 2000 network, and its waters are accessible during the summer months. It is the perfect place to test your skills in rafting and horseback riding, or simply to enjoy hiking and other alternative tourism activities.

As you walk along the river, you will encounter gorges, plane trees, small lakes, and massive rocks. Starting from the village of Glyki, you can begin your route toward the Tzavelaina Stairway. Stop to enjoy the Dragon’s Cave, where the river’s waters spring forth. Wander among the plane trees and climbing plants, and take photos on the beautiful Ntala Bridge. Don’t forget that along the riverbanks, you’ll find charming cafés and other dining establishments where you can relax.
